25) To the Ethiopian Patriarchate

Hundreds ran towards the car to take Metropolitan's Bishoy & Bishop Antonius blessings مئات يجرون وراء العربة لأخذ بركة المطران بيشوي والأسقف أنطونيوس In the hall of the Patriarchate في فناء البطريركية   Egyptian congregation with Metropolitan Bakhomious الجالية المصرية مع المطران باخوميوس

 

Later H. H. Abune Paulos I gave His speech in Amharic Language, followed by an English translation, then H. H. Pope Shenouda III gave his English speech, followed by a brief Amharic translation.  After that there were some fireworks..  And on the way out, people were asking for the blessings of the reverend Coptic Bishops attending, and asking for anything with their strong faith..  I started taking off the photos of the Pope and the Patriarch from the car windows, and gave it to them..  And we also gave them flowers from the window of the car..  On the way out Bishop Antonios Morkos and Bishop Bishoy were blessing the people with their hands, and hundreds rushed towards the car to take blessings..

بعد هذا قام أبونا باولص بإلقاء كلمته باللغة الأمهرية، لاحقها الترجمة الإنجليزية، ثم كلمة البابا شنوده باللغة الإنجليزية، ولحقها ترجمة سريعة بالأمهرية.  ثم قاموا بعمل بعض الألعاب النارية..  وفي طريق الخروج كان جميع الشعب يطلبون بركة الآباء الأساقفة الأقباط الحاضرين، ويطلبون أي شيء بإيمان قوي..  وقمت بأخذ الصور الموضوعة داخل العربة التي كنا بها وأعطيتها لهم من شباك العربة..  وأخذنا نوزع الورود من الشباك..  وفي طريق الخروج كان الأنبا أنطونيوس مرقس والأنبا بيشوي يباركا الشعب بأيديهم، وتلاحق المئات على العربة لأخذ البركة.. 

 

One of the funny notes, was that I was treated like a white foreigner!  Some let me take pictures at places that people are not allowed to, or ask for money from me for free things, or get nagged by beggars, or let me get in the Church with the Bishops and Patriarchs.. etc.  This was a bit funny, as I am not exactly white..!  I have a “wheaten” color like the wheat of Egypt.. :)

من الملاحظات الطريفة، أنني لاحظت أنهم يعاملونني كأجنبي أبيض!  فيسمح لي البعض بالتصوير في مناطق غير مسموح بالتصوير فيها، أو يطالبوني بمال في مقابل شيء مجاني، أو يلتف حولي الشحاذين وغيرهم، أو بالدخول مع الأساقفة والبطاركة إلى داخل الكنيسة..  إلخ.  وكان هذا أمراً طريفاً، حيث أنني لست أبيضاً بالمعنى المفهوم..!  (مصر هي أمي، نيلها جوه دمي، شمسها في نهاري، شكلها في ملامحي، حتى لوني قمحي، لون خيرك يا مصر)!!  قمحي.. :)
