Then we got back at church, where there were a dinner by the service of the Hilton Hotel, at the honor of H. H. Pope Shenouda III and the attendance of H. H. Patriarch Paulos I, but because of the strong effort that the Pope had done, his health issues, and the long flight from Egypt, followed by a continuous three-hours celebration, His Holiness couldn’t attend the dinner..  Abune Paulos blessed us at dinner, and Metropolitans Bishoy & Bakhomious were at His right and left..

ثم عدنا إلى مقر البطريركية، وكان هناك عشاء مجهز بخدمة فندق هيلتون على شرف قداسة البابا شنوده الثالث وبحضور قداسة أبونا باولص، ولكن بسبب المجهود الضخم الذي قام به قداسة البابا شنوده الثالث، وبسبب حالته الصحية، وسفره لعدة ساعات ثم الاحتفالية التي امتدت حوالي 3 ساعات متواصلة بعد وصوله، لم يستطع الحضور على العشاء..  وباركنا قداسة أبونا باولص بالحضور، وكان على جانبيه الآباء المطارنة الأنبا بيشوي والأنبا باخوميوس..

 

Next day (Saturday April 12, 2008) at 5 in the morning, some of the Coptic Bishops prayed the Holy Liturgy at the small Coptic Church there, followed by breakfast, attended by H. H. Pope Shenouda III.  Later lunch by the invitation of the Ethiopian President Weld Gorgis, and I couldn’t attend it as the invitations were limited, with a high security level, also because I went there late due to my flu that was increasing..  Later a visit to the Prime Minister, and at night there were a dinner at the Hilton Hotel, which was an invitation from the Egyptian Ambassador..

في اليوم التالي السبت 12 إبريل 2008، الساعة الخامسة فجراً، قام بعض الآباء الأساقفة بصلاة القداس الإلهي، وبعدها الإفطار بمباركة وحضور قداسة البابا شنوده الثالث.  وبعد هذا غذاء بدعوة من رئيس الجمهورية، ولم أستطع الحضور نظراً لمحدودية الدعاوى ودقة عملية الأمن، وكذلك لأني ذهبت متأخراً، حيث أن دور البرد الذي حلَّ بي كان يزيد..  بعد هذا تمت زيارة لرئيس الوزراء، وفي المساء كان هناك عشاء في الهيلتون بدعوة من السفير المصري.

 

It is good to note that a strange thing happened that Saturday, which was the appearance of the “Rainbow” in the sky in a noticeable way, and this doesn’t happen much in these areas and that time of the year..  And it continued in the sky for about 30 minutes..  The first thing that the BBC reporter asked H. H. the Ethiopian Patriarch was about this, and what it means..  The answer was clear that it shows the blessing of heaven to this reconciliation between the two churches..

وحدث أمر جدير بالذكر في يوم السبت، ألا وهو ظهور قوس قزح rainbow في السماء لمدة بشكل مُلفِت للنظر، وهو أمر لا يتكرر كثيراً في تلك المنطقة وهذا الوقت بشهادة كثيرين..  واستمر حوالي نصف الساعة..  وكان أول أمر سألته المُرسلة من قناة BBC للأب البطريرك الحبشي هو حول معنى هذه العلامة..  وكانت الإجابة واضحة وهي تعني مباركة السماء لهذا التصالح بين الكنيستين..

 

On Sunday 13 of April, H. H. Pope Shenouda III blessed the people after the Holy Liturgy at 7:00 a. m..  Later He left back to Egypt at 2:00 p. m.  And He made a press conference at Cairo Airport, regarding the visit to Ethiopia..

وفي يوم الأحد 13 إبريل، قام قداسة البابا بمباركة الناس بعد صلاة القداس الساعة السابعة صباحاً..  وقام قداسته بالسفر عائداً إلى مصر الساعة الثانية ظهراً..  وعند وصوله إلى مطار القاهرة، قام قداسته بإجراء مؤتمر صحفي حول الزيارة إلى إثيوبيا..

 

Unfortunately, my flu is still increasing, and I’d need some good rest for a few days so I can continue the journey..  Yesterday I went to St. Stephanos Church, but unfortunately I found it closed..  In front of it there was Addis Ababa Museum, but it was closed to, as it was Saturday..  Weekend here is Saturdays & Sundays.  I want to go to the churches, museums and touristic places here in Addis first, so I can head to the Northern of Ethiopia to visit the rest of the Holy places..  Especially Monastery of Debre Damo, which is built on top of a mountain, and it is the Monastery that St. Teklehaimanot fell from while getting down through a rope, and God gave Him six wings to get Him safely to the ground..  I heard something weird; which is the way up and down to the Monastery is still to this day by using ropes, like the days of St. Tekla Haimanot!!!

مازال دور البرد في تزايد للأسف، وسأحتاج إلى راحة بضعة أيام حتى أستطيع استكمال الرحلة..  أمس ذهبت إلى كنيسة القديس استفانوس، ولكن وجدتها مغلقة للأسف، وكان أمامها متحف أديس أبابا، ولكنه كان مغلقاً أيضاً لأنه كان يوم سبت..  الإجازة هنا سبت وأحد.  أريد الذهاب إلى الكنائس والمتاحف والأماكن السياحية هنا في أديس أولاً، حتى أستطيع الخروج منها في شمال إثيوبيا وغيرها لزيارة باقي الأماكن المقدسة..  وخاصة دير ديبرا دامو، المبني أعلى جبل، وهو الدير الذي سقط من فوقه الأنبا تكلا هيمانوت وهو نازل عن طريق حبل، وأعطاه الله ستة أجنحة للهبوط به إلى الأرض..  وسمعت أمراً غريباً، أن طريقة الصعود والهبوط إلى الدير حتى اليوم هي عن طريق الحبال، مثلما كانت في أيام الأنبا تكلا هيمانوت!!!
