We got delayed the previous time from going to Northern Ethiopia; because there was no Master Card machine in all Ethiopia!!  There was a small drawing machine at two banks only in Addis Ababa (the only ones in Ethiopia), and the card didn’t work there..  I tried many times, for a few days..

تعطلنا خلال الفترة السابقة من الذهاب إلى شمال إثيوبيا؛ بسبب أنه لا يوجد ماكينة ماستر كارد في إثيوبيا كلها!!  يوجد آلة سحب في بنكين فقط بأديس أبابا (الوحيدين في إثيوبيا)، ولكن لم يعمل الكارت فيهما..  هذا كان خلال عدة محاولات، على مدى بضعة أيام..

Tomorrow I’ll try to call the bank in Alexandria again, to find out about the reason of this issue..  I don’t want to spend what I have now, and then later discover that the card won’t work..  Thank God my travel Visa is valid until mid-June God willing..  All is for the best..

غداً سأحاول مرة أخرى الاتصال بالبنك في الإسكندرية لمعرفة سبب إعاقة عملية السحب من الكارت..  لا أريد أن أقوم بصرف ما معي، ثم أكتشف بعد ذلك أن الكارت لن يعمل..  أحمد الله أن الفيزا (فيزا الزيارة) ممتدة حتى ما بعد منتصف يونيو بإذن الله..  كله للخير..

 

 

I read today about the altitude sickness or illness, (acute mountain sickness - AMS), which is a pathological condition that is caused by acute exposure to low air pressure (usually outdoors at high altitudes). It commonly occurs above 2,400 meters (approximately 8,000 feet).  Altitude sickness is caused by reduced partial pressure of oxygen. The percentage of oxygen in air remains essentially constant with altitude at 21 percent, but the air pressure (and therefore the number of oxygen molecules) drops with altitude.  Altitude sickness usually does not affect persons traveling in aircraft because modern aircraft passenger compartments are pressurized.

قرأت اليوم عن موضوع ضيق التنفس الذي يحدث في الأماكن المرتفعة..  وها هي الخلاصة:

"غثيان الأماكن المرتفعة، هو عرض مرضي سببه هو التعرض الحاد لضغط جوي منخفض.  يحدث في الغالب فوق 2400 متر أو 8000 قدم فوق سطح البحر.  وسبب هذا هو قلة ضغط الأكسجين؛ حيث أن نسبة الأكسجين في الجو تظل ثابتة في الارتفاعات المختلفة، وتكون نسبته عند 21%، ولكن بسبب ضغط الهواء (وبالتالي عدد جزيئات الأكسجين) تقل مع الإرتفاع.  وهذا لا يحدث في الطائرات، حيث أن مقصورات الركاب في الطائرات الحديثة مكيّفة الضغط.

An unrelated condition, although often confused with altitude sickness, is dehydration, due to the higher rate of water vapor lost from the lungs at higher altitudes.

ويوجد عرض آخر لا علاقة له بنفس الأمر، وهو الجفاف، بسبب زيادة معدل فقط بخار الماء من الرئتين في الأماكن المرتفعة.
